Soccer Recap: Madera South Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the Madera South Stallions didn't have quite enough to beat the Fresno Warriors and fell 3-2. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Stallions came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Warriors are ranked 553rd).

Sneijder Ortiz and Alan Avila scored both of Madera South's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Madera South's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3-6. As for Fresno, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6-4.

Madera South will be playing in front of their home fans against McLane at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McLane's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Fresno has already played their next game (against Justin Garza), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
