Softball Preview: Helena Bengals vs. Sentinel Spartans
Helena and Sentinel are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Helena Bengals will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Sentinel Spartans at 3:00 p.m. Sentinel took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Helena, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, it was close, but Helena sidestepped Russell for a 4-3 victory.
Kylee Gardipee was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Klemp, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Sentinel had to settle for a 10-9 defeat against Gallatin on Tuesday.
Kennedy Dypwick and Haley Sellers stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dypwick scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Sellers scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Even though they lost, Sentinel was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with four doubles. That's the most doubles they've managed all season.
The win got Helena back to even at 2-2. As for Sentinel, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.
Sentinel's pitching crew has a tough task ahead of them: Helena has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Sentinel, though, as they've been averaging 9.2. Given Helena's sizable advantage in that area, Sentinel will need to find a way to close that gap.
