Basketball Recap: Monterey Trail Drops Season-High Score on Cosumnes Oaks

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monterey Trail). They claimed a resounding 89-45 win over the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 663rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monterey Trail's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rashawn Inglemon, who went 7 for 8 to rack up 22 points along with six assists and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Inglemon now owns an excellent 45.1% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Derron White, who went 6 of 8 en route to 17 points and six assists.

Monterey Trail is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points over those games. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-20.

Coincidentally, Monterey Trail and Cosumnes Oaks will both be playing Pleasant Grove the next time they take the court. Monterey Trail will head out to face Pleasant Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Cosumnes Oaks will host them at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th.
