Football Recap: Christoval Cougars vs. Reagan County Owls
After flying high against Colorado last Friday, Christoval came back down to earth. The Christoval Cougars lost 36-16 to the Reagan County Owls on Friday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Owls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Although Christoval took the loss, they still got scores from Ethan Busch and Isreal Bogs.
Christoval didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Bogs picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
Jarrett Brown was his usual excellent self, rushing for 156 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 178 yards and three touchdowns for Reagan County. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in rushing yards. Nicholas Franklin was Brown's top target, picking up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Christoval's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Reagan County, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Christoval will face off against Forsan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Reagan County, they will take on Sonora at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Reagan County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 36 points per game this season.
