Loyola, Lyons make Pepsi Showdown girls soccer final

Cold weather doesn't stop the soccer action near Chicago.

It'll be No. 3 Loyola Academy (Wilmette, Ill.) (10-0-2) against No. 5 Lyons (LaGrange, Ill.) (9-1-1) for the Pepsi Showdown final today at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill. Game time is 5:15 p.m. Central time at the home of the MLS Chicago Fire.

Loyola dropped Lake Forest (Ill.) 1-0 to advance. The Chicago Tribune reported that Margaret Walker scored the only goal of the game after redirecting a shot in the 25th minute of the second half.

Lyons beat Glenbrook South (Glenview, Ill.) on penalty kicks 4-3 after a scoreless regulation and two overtimes. MacKie Furlong, Kelsey Holbert, Juliet Lusson and Elise Gordon all scored in the PK portion, according to another Chicago Tribune story.
