Football Recap: Sherman Bearcats vs. Wakeland Wolverines
A win for Sherman just wasn't in the cards on Thursday as the squad wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They were beaten by the Wakeland Wolverines 42-14. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 523rd, while the Wolverines are ranked 215th).
It was another big night for Jayden Maples, who threw for 253 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes for Wakeland. A healthy portion of Maples' aerial production (111 yards to be exact) went to Grayson Myer.
Sherman is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. As for Wakeland, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Sherman will head out to challenge Lebanon Trail at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sherman is facing Lebanon Trail at the right time seeing as Lebanon Trail is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Wakeland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
