            Baseball Recap: Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes vs. Dawson School Mustangs        
        
		
        
        
            Bishop Machebeuf hadn't done well against Dawson School recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Thursday. The Buffaloes walked away with  an   11-8  win over the Mustangs. While the Buffaloes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
 Matthew Menke made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing six innings while giving up  three earned  (and one unearned) runs off   four  hits. Menke was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with four  RBI. Those  four  RBI gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Miles Edgar, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 5-for-5. Those  five  hits gave  him a new career-high.  John Menke was another key player,  scoring four  runs while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances.
 Bishop Machebeuf was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .438. They are  a perfect 5-0 when  they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Those  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Dawson School, their loss  ended  a  nine-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 3-5.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Machebeuf will square off against SkyView Academy at 3:30  p.m.  on Monday. As for Dawson School, they will take on Rocky Mountain Lutheran at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.2  runs per game this season.
