Baseball Recap: Belleville East Lancers vs. Freeburg Midgets        
        
		
            
 Belleville East won the last time they faced Freeburg, and things went their way  on Monday too. The Belleville East Lancers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Freeburg Midgets  and snuck past  3-1. That's two games straight that Belleville East has won by  exactly two  runs.
  Dawson Vernier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. Those seven  innings set a new season-high mark for him.
 On the hitting side,  Ty Reaka was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with a  triple, a  stolen base,  and a  run. The team also got some help courtesy of  Reid Neumayer, who  went 2-for-3 with a  stolen base and a  double.
 On Freeburg's side, they got a good showing from  Joey Pruett, who   pitched 2.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit (he also didn't allow any  walks).
 At the plate, Freeburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Lain Krauss, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-2.
 Belleville East now  has a winning record of 7-6. As for Freeburg, they dropped their record down to 6-8 with that  defeat, which was their fourth straight  at home.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belleville East will take on Rochester at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Freeburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Breese Central at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Freeburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.5  runs per game this season.
