Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Clay's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

It's playoff time, and Clay had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Bishop Kenny Crusaders with a sharp 9-1 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Gabriel Barker looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, JC Rosette was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Merrick Rapoza was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Clay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Kenny only posted an OBP of .222.

Clay is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Bishop Kenny, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-21.

As of now, neither Clay nor the Crusaders have any future games scheduled.
