Football Recap: Mesquite Falls Short of Coconino in the Playoffs + How To Watch

Mesquite and Coconino squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mesquite had to settle for second. They took a 29-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

Mesquite lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tallen Curry-Smith, who threw for 147 yards and two TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 69 yards. His passing game has become a key predictor of Mesquite's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 3-5 otherwise. The Wildcats also got a significant boost from Parker Kaczmarek, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.

Mesquite now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Coconino, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Mesquite does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coconino, they will venture away from home to square off against Bradshaw Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Dylan Callado and Kylin Jackson.
