Baseball Recap: Shrine Catholic Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Shrine Catholic and Our Lady of the Lakes, and Shrine Catholic kept the tradition alive. The Knights walked away with a 9-4 win over the Lakers on Saturday. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Sean Murphy made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Jackson Poulton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Blake Archibald was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Shrine Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Shrine Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Our Lady of the Lakes, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Shrine Catholic has already played their next contest, a 6-4 victory against Mott on the 12th. As for Our Lady of the Lakes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-2 win against Washtenaw Christian Academy on the 12th.
