Softball Recap: Tomball Picks Up 12th Straight Win at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tomball had no problem doing just that on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Royse City Bulldogs 12-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this matchup were averaging 3.06 runs allowed.

Regina Amaya spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aubrey Murillo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Fabianna Marcano, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Tomball's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-3. As for Royse City, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 25-9 record.

Tomball will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
