Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy). They took down the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets 93-76 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Gryphons: when they faced off against the Yellow Jackets back in December of 2024, they had to take a 76-59 loss.

Despite the defeat, Bessemer City had strong showings from Tristen Gordon, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten assists, and Josiah Guyton, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 24 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Gordon has been hot recently, having posted eight or more assists the last three times he's played. Jonathan Black was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

The victory made it two in a row for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and bumps their season record up to 13-4. As for Bessemer City, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and Shelby will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for Bessemer City, they will welcome Cherryville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
