Baseball Recap: Subiaco Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Acorn

The third road matchup was the charm for Subiaco Academy, as they earned their first away win of the season. They blew past the Acorn Tigers 15-3 on Tuesday. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Gabriel Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Subiaco Academy: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Rodriguez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. He also hit two triples, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Pennington, who fired off three home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-4. Those home runs were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Grist, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Subiaco Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

With the victory, Subiaco Academy broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-6. As for Acorn, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coincidentally, Subiaco Academy and Acorn will both be playing Hector the next time they take the field. The Trojans will host the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
