Basketball Game Preview: Holy Cross Cougars vs. Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers

Holy Cross is 1-9 against Pleasure Ridge Park since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Holy Cross Cougars face off against the Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Holy Cross humbled Bracken County with a 75-25 victory. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Pleasure Ridge Park came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 65-54. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Tigers are ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Holy Cross is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Pleasure Ridge Park, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Holy Cross came out on top in a nail-biter against Pleasure Ridge Park in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 59-57. Does Holy Cross have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pleasure Ridge Park turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
