Baseball Recap: Henry Hudson Takes a Loss

Henry Hudson made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Long Branch, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Admirals fell just short of the Green Wave by a score of 5-3 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Green Wave this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 back in April.

David Ortore was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Marshall Colangelo, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Henry Hudson and nudges their season record down to 6-6. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Long Branch, their record now sits at 7-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Henry Hudson will head out to square off against Somerset Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Long Branch, they will take on Monmouth Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
