Softball Recap: Arleta Mustangs vs. Kennedy Golden Cougars
Arleta had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 7-15 to make it 12. They fell 7-3 to the Kennedy Golden Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 back in April.
Arleta saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ADRIANA VASQUEZ DURAN, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Kennedy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.
On Kennedy's side, the team relied heavily on Leyla Cordon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Cordon a new career-high. Maya Dorado was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Arleta will venture away from home to take on Poly at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
