Basketball Recap: Russell Triumphs

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Russell walked away with it. They walked away with a 60-47 victory over the Rowan County Vikings on Monday. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Russell had a senior duo take command as Gabby Oborne shot 54% from the field en route to 20 points and Kennedy Darnell dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. The matchup was Darnell's fifth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Fleming, who posted six points.

Russell's victory bumped their record up to 24-7. As for Rowan County, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-14.

Coming up, Russell will challenge Boyd County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rowan County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
