Softball Recap: West Lafayette Wins Going Away Against Lafayette Central Catholic

West Lafayette won the last time they faced Lafayette Central Catholic and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Red Devils blew past the Knights 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Paola Eifler was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kerrigan Gooden was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs.

West Lafayette kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for West Lafayette and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Lafayette will square off against Clinton Prairie at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they will take on Rensselaer Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
