Westland's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They skirted past the Westerville South Wildcats 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

RJ Burke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Westland's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Moore, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Another was Carson Willis, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Westland's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Westerville South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Westland will have a chance to go back-to-back against Westerville South: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
