Softball Recap: Bridgeport Has No Trouble Against Shadyside

Bridgeport got themselves on the board against Shadyside on Monday, but Shadyside never followed suit. They blew past the Tigers 10-0. The Bulldogs have beaten the Tigers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Vanessa Mullen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Jayde Carman was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Addie Snodgrass was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI.

Bridgeport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.

Bridgeport's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Shadyside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.
