Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Emma Strand and Sawyer Shafer Lead Arapahoe to Victory

Arapahoe won the last time they faced Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] and things went their way on Friday too. The Arapahoe Warriors strolled past Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] with points to spare, taking the game 61-44. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] are ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Arapahoe to victory were Sawyer Shafer and Emma Strand. Shafer went 5 of 11 on her way to 17 points and five steals, while Strand posted 13 points. The dominant performance gave Strand a new career-high in points. Cadence Carpenter also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ellaray Koch, who went 6 for 13 en route to 18 points. Koch is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.

Arapahoe has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood], they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
