Baseball Game Preview: Douglas Tigers vs. Galena Grizzlies

Douglas and Galena are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Douglas Tigers will take on the Galena Grizzlies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Douglas barely beat Carson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Douglas' way against Carson on Tuesday as Douglas made off with a 13-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Senators: they've now won seven in a row.

Duncan Delange tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aiden Tarlo, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Main, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Douglas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Galena made easy work of Damonte Ranch on Thursday and carried off an 11-1 victory.

Douglas' record is now 3-1. As for Galena, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Douglas couldn't quite finish off Galena in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can Douglas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
