Volleyball Recap: Tomas Comes Up Short

Tomas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Tomas started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-18.

Fort Bend Kempner found their leader in sophomore Natalie Zimmerman, who had 16 digs and six assists. Zimmerman has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Tomas' defeat dropped their record down to 5-31. As for Fort Bend Kempner, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-19.

Tomas has already played their next contest (against Terry), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Fort Bend Kempner, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Randle on the 21st.
