Basketball Recap: Uriah Augare-Deal's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Hope Academy National over Potomac School

New Hope Academy National was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a hard 69-55 fall against the Potomac School Panthers. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in November of 2023.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Uriah Augare-Deal, who posted 12 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Dimbeng, who had nine points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, New Hope Academy National smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Leading Potomac School to victory were Akim Iscandari and Grey Chamberlain. Iscandari went 7-for-15 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight assists and four steals, while Chamberlain went 5-for-7 en route to 16 points and five boards. Iscandari is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Douglas, who scored 12 points.

New Hope Academy National's defeat dropped their record down to 14-21. As for Potomac School, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

New Hope Academy National will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bethel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 20th. New Hope Academy National is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.9 points per game this season. As for Potomac School, they have already played their next game, an 84-47 victory against Georgetown Day on the 13th.
