Softball Game Preview: Northern Lehigh Bulldogs vs. Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes

The Northern Lehigh Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northern Lehigh knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Schuylkill Haven likes a good challenge.

Northern Lehigh lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Palmerton, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Blue Bombers with a sharp 13-6 win two weeks ago. 13 seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Addison Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Northern Lehigh got a massive performance out of Peyton Hoffman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Hoffman has posted since back in April. Kylee Snyder was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Northern Lehigh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .324 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Schuylkill Haven unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak last Monday. They came up short against Pine Grove, falling 7-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Hurricanes couldn't push the score so high this time.

Northern Lehigh now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Schuylkill Haven, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

Everything went Northern Lehigh's way against Schuylkill Haven when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Northern Lehigh made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
