Softball Game Preview: Hanover Nighthawks vs. Bermudian Springs Eagles

The Hanover Nighthawks will take on the Bermudian Springs Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hanover will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Hanover turned things around against William Penn on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-13 win over the Bearcats.

Meanwhile, Bermudian Springs made easy work of Camp Hill on Monday and carried off an 18-2 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Makayla Reese was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Bermudian Springs got a massive performance out of Katelyn Willow, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Willow a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydney Kuntz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBI.

Bermudian Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Camp Hill only posted an OBP of .316.

Bermudian Springs is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Hanover, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
