Preview: SA Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Brandeis Broncos

SA Roosevelt is 2-7 against the Broncos since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The SA Roosevelt Rough Riders will look to defend their home court against the Brandeis Broncos at 11:30 a.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Saturday, SA Roosevelt lost to the Chargers on the road by a decisive 60-45 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for SA Roosevelt in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now lost three in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ethan Liserio, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Jensen Rentas-gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, Brandeis pushed their score all the way to 65 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Churchill by a score of 68-65. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Brandeis has suffered against the Chargers since December 29, 2021.

Like Brandeis, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Lincoln Philyaw led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Sean Tisdall, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.

SA Roosevelt has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season. As for Brandeis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-15.

SA Roosevelt barely slipped by the Broncos in their previous matchup back in January, winning 66-65. Does SA Roosevelt have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
