Basketball Recap: Yucca Valley Comes Up Short at Home Against Palm Desert

Yucca Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 116-36 loss at the hands of the Palm Desert Aztecs. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Desert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wil Wilson, who went 10-for-13 en route to 24 points in addition to six assists and five steals. That's the most steals Wilson has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zane Jordan, who shot 83% from the field on his way to 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Coming up, Yucca Valley will be taking part in a tournament against Holtville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Palm Desert, they will take on West Valley in a tournament on Friday.
