Softball Game Preview: Mount Airy Granite Bears vs. North Stokes Vikings

The Mount Airy Granite Bears will head out on the road to face off against the North Stokes Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mount Airy couldn't beat Alleghany on Friday even though they stacked eight runs on them in the fourth inning. The Granite Bears fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 9-8.

Greer Tidd and Bristol Sawyers stepped up to the plate in a big way. Tidd went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Sawyers went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Brintle, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, North Stokes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Forsyth Home Educators.

North Stokes' loss dropped their record down to 5-13-1. As for Mount Airy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Mount Airy couldn't quite get it done against North Stokes when the teams last played two weeks ago as they fell 10-6. Can the Granite Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
