Volleyball Recap: Liberty Lancers vs. Rampart Rams
Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Rampart Rams, falling 3-0. If the Lancers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Rams when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
The final score came out to 25-13, 25-8, 25-16.
Shea Taylor paced Liberty's offense, picking up six kills. Taylor got some help from Alyssa Willcox and her 12 assists. Briley Contreras controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Rampart had a senior duo take command as Gabriella Melecio had 14 digs and two aces and Marcella Chiriboga had eight digs and one block. Chiriboga is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season.
Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Rampart, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Liberty will challenge rival Vista Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rampart is set to take on their familiar foe Pueblo West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
