Basketball Game Preview: Spotswood Trailblazers vs. George Washington Eagles

Having just played yesterday, the Spotswood Trailblazers will jump right back in to play the George Washington Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Spotswood was fully in charge, breezing past East Rockingham 84-46. The Trailblazers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, George Washington put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They beat Hargrave Military Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 68-53. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Tigers are ranked 81st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

George Washington pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points per game. As for Spotswood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
