After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Edison, Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Mount Vernon Majors 15-5. Considering the Colonials have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Josie Whitaker was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Dia Bhatia and Emma Tao did most of the damage at the plate: Bhatia earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Tao went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Merrilee McWeeney also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
