Softball Game Preview: Tallwood Lions vs. First Colonial Patriots

The Tallwood Lions will challenge the First Colonial Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Tallwood took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Salem, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Sundevils 7-5.

Meanwhile, First Colonial entered their tilt with Landstown on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against the Eagles.

First Colonial let Lucy Domozick and Tori Rodriguez run wild. Domozick got on base in three of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Myla Viloria, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: First Colonial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got Tallwood back to even at 6-6. As for First Colonial, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
