Recap: Swain County Maroon Devils vs. Franklin Panthers

The Swain County Maroon Devils have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 71-63 to Franklin on Wednesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Swain County in their matchups with Franklin: they've now lost five in a row.

Max Mcclure was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with two steals for Franklin. Mcclure is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braylen Dezarn, who scored 16 points along with four steals.

Swain County's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Franklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Swain County will take on Robbinsville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Robbinsville will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Swain County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Franklin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Henderson at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West Henderson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday.
