Basketball Recap: Denbigh Baptist Christian Takes a Loss

Denbigh Baptist Christian was the 44-42 winner over Portsmouth Christian when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Denbigh Baptist Christian Minutemen fell 37-29 to the Portsmouth Christian Patriots on Tuesday. The Minutemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Julia Kinney was Denbigh Baptist Christian's leading scorer, having posted 12 points. Rylee Stewart held things down on the boards with ten rebounds.

Portsmouth Christian can attribute much of their success to Jenna Patrick, who posted 17 points. Portsmouth Christian is undefeated when Patrick posts 15 or more points, but 2-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Delani Nash, who scored eight points.

Denbigh Baptist Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Portsmouth Christian, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 5-12.

Denbigh Baptist Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 33-13 loss against StoneBridge on the 6th. As for Portsmouth Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-19 defeat against Atlantic Shores Christian on the 7th.
