Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Harding's Winning Streak

Harding and Twinsburg squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Harding had to settle for second. They took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Twinsburg Tigers. The Raiders' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Harding lost, don't look at Akeelha Barnes. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. Barnes has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nadia McQueen, who went 7-for-9 on her way to 14 points and five boards.

Twinsburg was led to victory by Kayla Cellura and Jaci Hutton. Cellura went 8-for-14 en route to 24 points and five rebounds, while Hutton posted 14 points and five steals. Those 24 points gave Cellura a new career-high. Taylor Dye was another key player, putting up two points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Harding's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Twinsburg, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-7.

Harding does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Twinsburg, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-20 loss against Anthony Wayne on the 25th.
