Softball Game Preview: Bloomfield Bobcats vs. Gallup Bengals

Bloomfield is 0-10 against Gallup since June of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Bobcats will take on the Bengals at 6:00 p.m. Bloomfield has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bloomfield came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 16-10 to Kirtland Central.

Mariah Romero made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Craygen Lucero also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Gallup fell victim to Aztec and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 10-0. The Bengals' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Gallup's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-8. As for Bloomfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Bloomfield suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Gallup in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
