Softball Game Preview: Mohawk Warriors vs. New Riegel Blue Jackets

The Mohawk Warriors will take on the New Riegel Blue Jackets at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

New Riegel will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Mohawk extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Warriors beat Arcadia by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-1.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, New Riegel rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Polar Bears with a sharp 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Jackets in their matchups with the Polar Bears: they've now won six in a row.

New Riegel's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Mohawk, their win bumped their record up to 20-5.

Mohawk beat New Riegel 5-2 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
