Basketball Recap: Chris Chiles Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Latin

There's no place like home for Francis W. Parker, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 57-48 victory over the Latin Romans on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Colonels in their matchups with the Romans: they've now won three in a row.

Francis W. Parker's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Chiles, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Chiles is becoming a predictor of the Colonels' success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 4-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Harris, who posted 13 points and five steals.

Francis W. Parker's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Latin, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-2 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Francis W. Parker will take on Maine West in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colonels will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. Latin and Northside will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Romans will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 64.63 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
