League recap: Moore throws longest pass in league this season for Desert

Matthew Moore and Brayden Pantana provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Fillmore. The connection went for 74 yards, the longest such play in High Desert this season.

Kern Valley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league.

Desert's dynamic duo of Moore and Pantana proved tough for the Flashes to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Moore threw for 273 yards and five touchdowns and Pantana had 147 yards receiving. Chad Gleason helped Desert's passing attack out by catching five balls for 109 yards.

Myquan Turner made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Scorpions fell to Fillmore. The senior recorded two fumbles and racked up one sack.

Casey Holcomb was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 123 yards on 10 carries as Frazier Mountain lost to Matt Dollar's team. Kevin Enciso also contributed to the rushing game with 122 yards on the ground.

Desert's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Scorpions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Moore has thrown for 718 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Gleason has 11 catches for 190 yards. Brandon Valdez leads the league in rushing with 349 yards.

Rosamond moved up to 879 from 938 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Roadrunners were able to make the jump by beating the Roadrunners 49-0.
