Basketball Game Preview: Ridge View Blazers vs. Blythewood Bengals

The Ridge View Blazers will challenge the Blythewood Bengals at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, everything went Ridge View's way against Jackson Day as Ridge View made off with a 68-47 win. Given the Blazers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 37th in South Carolina, while the Mariners are ranked 224th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Blythewood had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.6 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Gamecocks by a score of 54-46.

Blythewood's win came from a few key players Ridge View will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chase Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Her evening made it 16 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. India Williams was another key player, putting up 16 points and five rebounds.

Blythewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.

Blythewood's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Ridge View, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Ridge View couldn't quite finish off Blythewood when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 47-45. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Thomas, who went 8 for 20 on her way to 23 points and three steals.
