Volleyball Recap: Columbus Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Layla Norrell and Jaslyn Watts

Columbus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Harris County Tigers. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Columbus sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 22-25, 15-11.

Jaslyn Watts and Layla Norrell certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Watts had 14 digs and two aces, while Norrell had 13 digs. Watts has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Harris County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Columbus didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Dalton on the 16th. As for Harris County, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Athens Academy on the 16th.
