Two dominant signal callers in Luke Babin and Trevor Golightly are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Woodville Eagles will take on the Edgewood Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Woodville sitting on four straight victories and Edgewood on seven.
Woodville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They strolled past West Rusk with points to spare, taking the game 56-41.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Babin and Judson Dotson. Babin had a solid game and threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Dotson was balling out in the loss, throwing for 276 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 44 yards and one score.

Woodville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Landon Harris and Jayden Horn. Horn also made five total tackles, which is notable because Woodville is undefeated when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise. Adailius Williams was another major factor on D, making 14 total tackles.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Woodville, racking up 20 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kenneth Rigsby, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Edgewood posted their closest win since September 12th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 victory over New Boston. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Lions are ranked 569th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Edgewood's win came from a few key players Woodville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Treston Turner, who picked up 106 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 106 receiving yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Pippin, who rushed for 74 yards and one TD.
Woodville's record is now 9-2. As for Edgewood, their record now sits at an identical 9-2.
