Hazen Rydquist and Owen Reece secure win for Hodgeman County

Recap: Hodgeman County Longhorns vs. Spearville Lancers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Meade, the Hodgeman County Longhorns were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 65-58 win over Spearville. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Hodgeman County to victory were Hazen Rydquist and Owen Reece. Rydquist scored 17 points along with six assists, while Reece scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Reece has scored at least 25% of Hodgeman County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Weber, who scored four points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Hodgeman County's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Spearville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hodgeman County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ashland at 8:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Ashland is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Spearville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pawnee Heights at 8:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
