Volleyball Recap: Norwayne Comes Up Short

Norwayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dalton Bulldogs. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Norwayne actually scored more points across those five sets (98-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-10, 10-25, 20-25, 16-14.

Ava Maibach paced Norwayne's offense, picking up 19 kills. Maibach got some help from CJ Moore and her 26 assists. Moore was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Norwayne's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Dalton, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Norwayne and Dalton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Bobcats (ranked 74th) will meet Hillsdale (ranked 260th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Dalton will challenge Rittman at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (61 vs. 433).
