Baseball Recap: Dr. Joaquin Garcia Comes Up Short

After flying high against Leonard last Thursday, Dr. Joaquin Garcia came back down to earth. The Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs fell 11-7 to the American Heritage Stallions on Friday. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Stallions from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia got a good showing from Hunter Butler, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Butler has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Rocco Castrillon and Eric Flores stepped up to the plate in a big way. Castrillon scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Flores scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Castrillon a new career-high in runs. Peyton Holton also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for American Heritage, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dr. Joaquin Garcia will venture away from home to face off against Santaluces at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dr. Joaquin Garcia is facing Santaluces at the right time seeing as Santaluces is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for American Heritage, they will head out on the road to square off against Benjamin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. American Heritage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
