Baseball Recap: West Florida Baptist Academy Has No Trouble Against Gulf Pointe Latin

West Florida Baptist Academy won against East Hill Christian last Thursday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Conquerors put the hurt on the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators with a sharp 16-1 victory. The Conquerors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.

Will Beard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Beard was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. West Florida Baptist Academy is 2-1 when Beard posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trey Hughes, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of West Florida Baptist Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Richardson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one double.

West Florida Baptist Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gulf Pointe Latin only posted an OBP of .267.

West Florida Baptist Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

As of now, neither West Florida Baptist Academy nor the Gladiators have any future games scheduled.
