Basketball Game Preview: Johnson City Eagles vs. Harper Longhorns

The Johnson City Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Harper Longhorns at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Johnson City will be strutting in after a victory while Harper will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Johnson City beat Junction 40-35. Given Johnson City's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while Junction is ranked 1370th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Harper has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Goldthwaite on Friday.

Harper's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Johnson City, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which somehow still isn't as good as their 24-6 record this season.

Johnson City won a match that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played on January 3rd, slipping by Harper 49-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Johnson City since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
