Softball Recap: San Clemente Takes a Loss

San Clemente fell victim to Beckman and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for the Tritons seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Luca Cifuentes was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for San Clemente and nudges their season record down to 18-7-1. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Beckman, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. San Clemente will face off against rival Trabuco Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Beckman is set to square off against their familiar foe El Toro at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
